I will never forget Easter morning 2017. Nothing in my closet fit me and I was scrambling to find something to wear to church. I was tipping the scale at 220lbs. My energy was in the toilet, my knees were achy and I couldn't interact with my kids the way they wanted to. The couch was my sanctuary.
I dropped some weight, got a gym membership and started working part time at Sprouts. Still I never really felt great and couldn't figure out why. A customer shopping in Sprouts (that I helped one day) told me about Dr. Harrison. It sounded too good to be true but I decided to look into it; nothing else had really been effective so far.
I had battled my weight since middle school, up and down. Dealt with hormone fluctuations, pregnancies which weren't easy, widespread inflammation, pain and misguided health information. I needed someone to point me in the right direction and give me a blueprint of my quest for optimum health.
After my first consultation with Dr. Harrison. I was still skeptical but wanted to give it a shot. After all, the testimonials of others were proof that whatever he had them do, worked! Plus, I liked that he treated the ``whole body.``
The first time he told me ``NO sugar, diary, grains or legumes.`` I was like, seriously, are you trying to kill me here? What am I going to eat? I had days at first when I literally felt like crying from dairy and sugar withdrawal; it was intense!
As days and weeks ticked by the easier it got, and I came up with some really creative food solutions! I was sleeping better, waking up less groggy, craving healthy fats and veggies, and wanting to do more things and live life! I had less pain and everything I was asked to do became a maintainable part of my everyday routine. My friends, family and coworkers are constantly commenting on how great I look, and more importantly to me is how I feel. I feel twenty times better than I did before!
When I talk to people, even at work who are chronically not feeling well, have dealt with health issues, etc. I share a bit of what I have been through and have often given them Dr. Harrison's information. Had I not chosen this route, I shudder to think where I'd be. I'd be stuck in insanity. Doing the same thing repeatedly, expecting different results. It was not a coincidence that I spoke to that customer who told me about Dr. Harrison…
There is hope; a light at the end of the long dark tunnel of pain and poor health. Dr. H gives you the tools and guidance you need to be successful for life! It works if you work it, so work it!
Dr. Harrison literally saved my life. His extensive lab work uncovered a genetic blood disease that my own general care practitioner had missed in their standard lab work just a month earlier. I walked out of my general care practitioner's office with a ``clean bill of health`` and a genetic disease that would've destroyed my organs over the next 10 years! Due to Dr. Harrison, I was able to treat my blood disorder before any permanent damage to my two best assets, brain and body. As to ``the program``, the proof is in the lost pudding. At 6'1 and 160 pounds at the start, I simultaneously added eight pounds of muscle and lost two inches off my belly over the course of the custom program Dr. Harrison designed for my individual needs.
I fully expect these trajectories to continue as I move forward through life with the tools and knowledge Dr Harrison has provided me. My psychiatrist said it best: ``You've been so compliant and still we've seen you struggle for so long, you DESERVED to meet this guy, in fact, give me his number, I'd like a consult...``
I look forward to working with Dr. Harrison in the future, as more questions will always arise while science moves forward and I get older. There is a sea of misinformation out of there. He helped me achieve a true understanding of human metabolism. At age 54, I now feel more confident about aging gracefully than I ever have. So much so that I convinced my wife into taking Dr. Harrison's program in the hopes that the finish line is a long, healthy, happy way off for the two of us.
Before meeting with Dr. Harrison, my world was much different. I had many different doctors (neurologist, rheumatologist, and endocrinologist), and many different labels (chronic migraines, Hashimoto's, and Lupus to name a few). I had many different symptoms and instead of finding the root to the symptoms, it was easier to slap a label on them. I was so exhausted from not being heard, and constantly having medication be the only answer. I know my body, I know when something isn’t right, and I know there is always a root to any issue we face.
Dr. Harrison listened to my symptoms, reviewed my labs, and looked for the root cause. I have never been so impressed with the work that was put into my health. He was very thorough, and explained how the body communicates. He showed me with picture illustrations so that I could truly understand why symptoms arise. He explained how one number on a blood lab correlates to another, and communicates misinformation to the body. It simply amazed me that no one has ever been able to put it together for me as he did. His encouragement and support during the process has made all the difference in the world!
I am happy to report after 2 months of seeing Dr. Harrison: I haven’t had a migraine! Smells do not trigger headaches anymore, nor does the barometric pressure. I’ve lost 6 stubborn pounds of weight, and my digestive system is back on track. I don’t buckle over in pain, nor do I feel so bloated after a meal. My joints and muscles don’t hurt like they used to. I sleep better, and have more energy! My focus is direct, and my moods have greatly improved. I feel better, and it shows! I HAVE MY LIFE BACK! My family and I are forever grateful!
I recommend Dr. Harrison to everyone I know. Good health is priceless, and it’s time to realize “You are worth it!
Meet Pamela: Pamela came to Dr. Harrison's office after hearing about him through her friend, who had also been through Dr. Harrison's program. Pamela was burdened with multiple medications for elevated cholesterol, hypertension, and thrombocytosis (elevated platelet disorder). Her symptoms included fatigue, reoccurring sinus and respiratory infections as well as weight gain. After 3 months with Dr. Harrison, Pam reduced her LDL to almost within normal laboratory range, significantly reduced her blood pressure, reduced her triglyceride levels by more than half, reduced her platelet count to almost normal laboratory range AND lost just under 20 lbs. Additional, Pam has not had a sinus infection since she started the program and her energy level has significantly improved.
I was sick and tired of being sick and tired all the time. No matter what I tried to do, nothing worked. I have not felt this good in over 20 years. This program is a change of lifestyle. I am eating better and feeling better. The weight loss doesn't hurt either. Now I feel more energized and wanting to do more things. Thank you, Dr. Harrison.
Dr. Harrison has so much knowledge. In past 11 years, since I found out I had Hashimoto’s, he has given me more information on my condition and how to best treat it than all my doctors and naturopaths combined! I'm in a better place now with my health because of him.
Before Dr. Harrison, my autoimmune condition was impacting my entire life. One of my goals I set with Dr. Harrison was to simply be able to sit down and interact with my 4 y.o. daughter. My energy levels were so bad I would find myself falling asleep whenever I tried to read a book or play a game with her.
Now I have the energy to play with her and have been able to get off the couch and get out of the house! Also, my anxiety and attention deficit has significantly decreased, improving my relationship with my family and my work life. My husband now doesn't have to take the brunt of caring for the family as I am able to help out more.
My heart breaks when I think about the years of being miserable, relying on medical advice that is so far behind what current research is showing.
I'm so grateful that there are people like Dr. Harrison that do their due diligence in research and are able to provide the best counsel for their patients.
Thank you, Dr. Harrison, for giving me a better quality of life and the knowledge for how to best care for myself and my family!
On the morning of October 2nd, 2016, I donated blood with Bonfil’s Blood Center, as I have since I was 16. An hour afterward, I headed home with my family. Before we reached the house, I told my wife, Kari, I didn’t feel good and that she might have to take the steering wheel for me. At that moment, I blacked out. Kari told me I pushed the gas pedal to the floor and we started accelerating quickly through our neighborhood. She managed to grab the steering wheel and reach the brake pedal and was able to get us slowed down and pulled over to the side of the road. At that point, she turned off the ignition and tried to wake me back up.
I woke up feeling absolutely miserable and soaked in sweat. I could barely move my head and arms. Several minutes later I forced myself to walk into the house and layed down to sleep. The next several days, I didn’t go to work, I slept a lot, and I had no energy. Headaches were severe, my stomach hurt, and my head was foggy. I couldn’t focus on anything very long. The crazy thing was, I didn’t look sick. I just couldn’t function.
I finally drug myself to see my doctor who started with a simple blood test to see what was going on. A week later, I went back in to find out that I was anemic, with iron ferritin levels in the toilet. Normal levels are 24 to 336 nanograms per milliter for men, per the Mayo Clinic. Ideal levels are 100 to 200. My results came back at 2. Iron carries oxygen to the brain and I didn’t have enough iron to do the job. My doctor said I should avoid high altitude and take iron supplements for a month. Then I should come back for another blood draw to see if my iron levels changed at all.
I started taking some iron supplements I purchased at the grocery store. I was struggling to function through each day. Advil wasn’t helping my headaches at all. I’d wake up each morning with itchy eyes, feeling like I hadn’t slept in 2 days straight. I had no energy. It took everything I had to get out of bed each morning. Getting up early on Tuesday mornings was even harder. I could force myself to go to work for an hour or two but then would go back home to sleep some more. I was living in a nightmare that didn’t seem to improve.
I didn’t like not knowing what was wrong. I made an appointment with Dr. Glenn Harrison. I wasn’t completely sure what Dr. Harrison did, so I told him my situation and just asked him if there was anything he could do to help. He had me complete more comprehensive blood tests. When the results came in, he figured out that I had Hashimoto’s, an Autoimmune Disease where your immune system attacks your thyroid like it’s a virus or a foreign object. He said there is no cure for this disease, but it is manageable by avoiding certain foods, mainly gluten. It was discouraging to hear that I had obtained a disease, but he gave me hope when he explained that I would get my health and energy back. The one thing I needed at that time was hope.
Certain foods had been irritating my stomach for years. I took antacids a lot as they would make my stomach feel better for a time. Dr. Harrison explained that I had leaky gut, where my stomach had lost its acidity and wasn’t dissolving food. My stomach began to expand and stretch causing perforations in my stomach lining. Certain foods were escaping from my stomach right into my bloodstream. My immune system began marking these items as bad, including gluten and tapioca for me. It was most likely at this same time that my immune system was over-active that it also marked my thyroid as bad and began attacking it as well.
There was a lot to learn. Dr. Harrison explained what was going on and decoded my blood test results. He gave me reading material and sent videos to help me understand what had happened, how related parts of the body function, suggestion for food options I could eat, and proven exercise techniques to build muscle. I had to make some major lifestyle changes when it came to food. I had been eating out almost every meal, usually fast food. I hadn’t eaten much in the way of fruit in years. I ate some vegetables, but not most days. Now I had to eat to meat, vegetables, and fruit without a lot of things added to them. Things like bread, dairy, sugar, canola oil, potatoes, coffee, and alcohol had to go away for a while. This would be really hard if I was feeling great and just looking to lose some weight. But I felt like I was dying and was struggling to function on a daily basis. I had to restock the fridge and cabinets with food I could eat. I realized quickly that the rest of the family wasn’t necessarily going to join me in my diet, but they were supportive for the most part.
I was frustrated to learn that this disease was most likely avoidable, but I had tried to figure out what was wrong with my stomach on multiple occasions. My doctor had my try different prescriptions to see what would change. He even had me checked out with an upper gastrointestinal endoscope. They said everything was fine. I gave up trying to figure it out and just avoided trigger foods the best I could. When that didn’t work, I took some Zantac. Working with Dr. Harrison, I was figuring out that the regular American medical model lacked education and options, which seem to be limited to prescription drugs and surgery. That’s not Health Care. That’s Emergency Care and Symptom Relief at best. I often wonder where I would be right now if I had relied on my family practice doctor only. I suspect I would have felt worse longer, been put on synthetic iron drugs for life, and I would have had additional medical issues for life because I would have never known the cause of my ailments. Scary…
The headaches continued but started to back off after a couple of months. Energy slowly improved. I continued to only eat meat, vegetables, and fruit. By March, I had lost 23 lbs. I didn’t feel like I was fat when I started this program but was amazed at how much better I looked and felt after I started eating healthier. I have been able to slowly introduce additional foods back into my diet. Some foods, such as gluten and tapioca, will never be reintroduced as my immune system is watching for them, but there are options out there for me if I really start craving bread.
I can’t think of anyone that couldn’t benefit from working with Dr. Harrison and getting control of their health, before more problems and permanent damage occurs. I can’t imagine a better true health coach!
I met Dr. Harrison in April 2017 when I was at a breaking point. I was dealing with enormous grief from the loss of my mother and a very stressful corporate job that’s only benefit in my life was a paycheck but was insidiously contributing to my poor health. I had learned I have a genetic autoimmune disorder and had started infusions twice a week to manage it, had put on about 50 lbs., could not sleep at night nor manage my stress. My ability to eat healthy foods and schedule exercise was non-existent and the brain fog was present during my entire waking hours every single day. My inflammation was so high that my immunologist warned I could have a heart attack or stroke at any time. Thankfully, neither one of those happened. This was my ongoing struggle for about 4 yrs.
All these problems began to blur themselves together and I could not compartmentalize them enough to even begin to tackle them. I felt unrecognizable to myself. I was also mentally and emotionally defeated. I wasn’t even sure if I cared to try to restore my physical health anymore or if I had the strength to do so.
I was skeptical and cried a lot during our first appt. I was so exhausted and angry at how much my life had been derailed. I wasn’t sure I could do what Dr. Harrison was asking of me. Despite my hesitancy, Dr. Harrison was a dream to work with even from that first visit. He is consistent and patient despite whatever you throw at him or even how much you resist (and resist I did). He maintained this steadiness throughout the emotional ups and downs of this process and he explained why I needed to do what he was asking in a way that made sense and seemed manageable. I never felt like he was judging my journey or my failures and he always answered all of my rapid-fire questions.
As we fixed my sleep habits and began to change my diet over several weeks, the fog began to lift and I gained more energy and felt less pain in my body. The unresolved issues I was having in my life were becoming clearer and I could actually deal with my grief in a healthier way. When my mom passed, my grief was so deep I didn’t care about myself anymore and Dr. Harrison helped me to care for myself again.
I could now see how my job and its environment were having a very negative impact on my health and I ended up having the clarity and strength to quit. I began a new career in real estate and even got through my education and licensing in record time. The mental clarity I gained was now restoring my thirst for knowledge, enjoyment of the academic challenge and bringing new intellectual energy back into my life. I know I wouldn’t have been able to accomplish this before having met him.
It’s funny how everything that you want to DO in life starts with rest. Rest gives one the ability to tackle other elements of the healing process and make good food choices and life decisions. Since we first started, I’ve lost about 20 lbs. (I still have more work to do here), stopped the infusions without any flare-ups, lowered my inflammation to being barely outside the normal range, less overall pain in my body, more energy, more mental clarity and more joy in my life. For those things that I still work on, I now have the tools and energy to continue the good habits Dr. Harrison taught me.
I would strongly urge anyone struggling with health issues to reach out to Dr. Harrison. He is a rare find in medicine these days. He will guide you through your health journey with care, compassion, reason, and help restore confidence in your own abilities. He will inspire you while explaining the medical aspects behind every step you need to take. I’m very grateful for the fortuitous events that led me to him as it has changed my life in ways I couldn’t have expected.
In May 2017, my sister told me that her thyroid hormone test results had begun creeping up and she had learned that our mother has been on thyroid medication her entire adult life. She suggested that I request a thyroid test, which I did. By Feb 2018, my sister’s Thyroid Stimulating Hormone (TSH) test was well above normal and she was suffering typical hypothyroidism symptoms including lethargy and depression. In February, my TSH was still normal, but I was on the same path as my 18-month older sister. My mother, sister and I all have an autoimmune condition called Hashimoto’s Disease. My sister began taking Synthroid in Feb 2018 (the same medication my mother takes) and her symptoms improved enormously. She was happy to be on Synthroid, but I decided I’d rather not take a prescription medicine if I could avoid it. My western doctor had no advice for me. I read all I could find on natural treatments for Hashimoto’s Disease. I made some changes to my diet and took the supplements recommended by a holistic nutritionist. Four months later, my TSH had continued to climb. In July 2018, I found a postcard in my mailbox inviting me to Dr Harrison’s seminar called “Why Do I Still Have Thyroid Symptoms When My Lab Tests are Normal?”. That wasn’t my situation. I had no symptoms, even though my lab tests were not normal. But, I knew from my sister’s experience that unpleasant symptoms were in my future. I attended the July seminar and came away with pages of notes about the thyroid system and an appointment for my first consultation with Dr Harrison.
I have always been physically active, mostly as a runner, and I have tried to follow general recommendations for eating well. At 5’4” and 108 lbs, I wasn’t concerned about weight loss and I had no physical or emotional complaints. My only goal was to get my thyroid test back to within the normal range, so I could avoid taking a prescription medication for the rest of my life. I found Dr Harrison’s plan very easy to follow. The diet, lifestyle and exercise changes he suggested were very gradual, which made it easy for me to adjust to them. And the results were excellent!
My thyroid test history:
TSH (normal range = 0.320 – 5.500 uIU/mL):
Dec 2007 2.125
May 2017 5.338
Feb 2018 5.076
June 2018 7.378
July 2018 (first test with Dr Harrison) 9.14
Oct 2018 (last test with Dr Harrison) 5.55
Free T4 (normal range = 0.8-1.8 ng/dL)
July 2018 (first test with Dr Harrison) 0.9
Oct 2018 (last test with Dr Harrison) 1.10
Total T4 (normal range = 4.5-12.00 ug/dL)
July 2018 (first test with Dr Harrison) 5.6
Oct 2018 (last test with Dr Harrison) 7.3
After almost doubling from Feb to July, my TSH dropped to within 0.05 uIU/mL of normal from July to October! Before my work with Dr Harrison, I had no idea what to do to improve my thyroid situation. Dr Harrison has given me the tools and the knowledge I need to manage my autoimmune condition. I have continued with my new diet and exercise regimen beyond my four months with Dr Harrison, hoping that my TSH will soon be well within the normal range. This is my new way of eating and exercising. It’s very doable; I expect to continue indefinitely. I want to avoid western medicine (and its side effects) as long as possible.
I came to see Dr Harrison at the age of 31 after suffering in silence for the better part of 7 years. I was suffering from extreme exhaustion, brain fog and couldn't lose weight no matter what I tried. My health struggle was so severe that I was starting to feel depressed because nothing I did could change my situation. I'm a high school teacher and I absolutely love my job but my health problems were making me reconsider my passion for the profession.
I had discussed these issues at length with my traditional doctor to no avail. I had to beg them to run a thyroid test only to be told time and time again that the blood work shows ``I'm fine`` and ``shouldn't feel so tired``. It was isolating and awful because your family and friends don't understand why you feel so terrible or how to help you when even your doctor doesn't listen to you. Even you start to feel like you are going crazy. You wonder if maybe how you feel is actually normal and that you should just accept this as your life.
My life changed after my first appointment with Dr. Harrison. He listened to every word I said but more importantly, he believed me! He understood that I couldn't identify my issue but he believed that my symptoms were real and that he could help me. He was able to immediately identify Hashimoto's thyroiditis markers in my blood work and tailor a health plan to perfectly fit my needs and symptoms. Of course, I was skeptical at first that anything could help me but I promised to keep an open mind and try everything he suggested. The changes I had to make weren't easy but they were so worth it.
Now, just 5 months later I have lost 25 pounds but most importantly I feel like myself again. I have energy to teach, spend time with friends and loved ones and do the things I am passionate about. I'm starting a gluten free food blog and my boyfriend just proposed because he finally has ``the girl he fell in love with`` back again. We owe it all to Dr Harrison.
So what would I tell someone considering working with Dr Harrison? You are NOT crazy, how you feel is NOT normal and you CAN change it. Don't spend another minute sick and unhappy because there are beautiful things waiting for you at the other end of this journey.
My name is Mark Harrington. I am 31 and approached Dr. Harrison to help with several issues I had been having.
The most immediate was a gradual decline in energy, increased brain fog, and most concerning, random dizziness and disorientation. This was accompanied with major stomach problems including severe heartburn that would keep me up all night and general discomfort throughout the day. At one point I was hospitalized because the disorientation was so severe I could not walk. The ER ran blood work and told me that I had Hypothyroidism and told me my primary care doctor would give me a pill and I would feel much better.
On top of all that, I have been suffering from random hives for over a decade. They would show up about every 6 months, cause major discomfort, and then go away. I have been to several specialists who would recommend different drugs but the solutions had never worked.
Dr. Harrison listened to my story and was able to offer up a theory that not only explained the current issues, but tied into the hives as well. My initial blood work confirmed that I DID NOT have a thyroid issue at all but instead had major liver issues, no stomach acid, and was pre-diabetic. Needless to say, I was shocked and somewhat skeptical. However, I had seen and heard many testimonials and since nothing else had worked, I figured I would listen.
He outlined a tough treatment plan that involved changing my diet and adding in supplements that he said would reactivate and repair my digestive system. It was a tough treatment path but I followed it.
My results were astounding. My disorientation and stomach issues disappeared quickly, my energy came back, and the brain fog lifted. In 4 months I went from extremely unhealthy, pre- diabetic with liver issues to the healthiest I have ever been. The hives that I have had for 10 years have not reappeared in over a year and half, something that no other doctor was able to do.
I cannot thank Dr. Harrison enough. His knowledge is second to none and he truly cares about his clients. He would always pay attention and I felt like a friend he cared about, not a patient on a clipboard. I do not know where I would be without him but I know where I am with him and it’s the happiest and healthiest I have ever been.
Thank you Dr. Harrison, for giving me my life back.
My 4-year-old son Jackson has been from doctor to doctor, has had surgeries and tons of tests and procedures done, been in and out of hospitals and has been on large lists of medications for GERD, asthma, sleep apnea, and constantly on antibiotics for recurrent infections, but yet no one could give us any definite answers on where to go or what to do. He hadn't gained weight for a year and a half, was eating small amounts of food, wasn't getting much sleep, had bone pain, stomach aches every day, and was just always feeling sick.
It was the most heartbreaking thing to see my child going through all of this and not being able to fix it or take it away. His blood work has always showed that he was low in nutrients and showed dehydration no matter how much he drank or how much he ate. his body just wasn't absorbing it and none of the doctors knew what to do other than put him on something to mask the symptoms and hope in time he would grow out of all of it. Over 4 years of constant illness and going downhill the doctors were out of ideas.
When we met Dr. Harrison he happily took Jackson's entire medical record and went through every single page. When he sat me down to go over what he found I didn't have high hopes because I didn't want to be disappointed again. What he told me changed our world for the better. He believed that Jackson had malabsorption syndrome that was causing him to not get anything important from his food or even absorb the water he was drinking. He also pointed out that my son had a constant low white blood cell count and neutrophil levels probably due to his immune system constantly having to fight. Jackson's immune system was constantly fighting things that it shouldn't have had to like foods, soaps, lotions and normal daily things the body should be able to handle. Dr. Harrison also pointed out that my son had inflammation in his stomach and be causing him to have the reflux and in turn making his asthma worse. Within a week Dr. Harrison put my son on a gluten free and dairy free diet and put him on a bunch of natural supplements. I was a little skeptical at first but was willing to try anything!
The first thing I noticed that changed, was that Jackson started sleeping through the night. He hasn't done this since he was 6 months old!!! Then I noticed that he was starting to eat more, had a better attitude and wasn't complaining of stomach or bone pain nearly as much!!! It has now been almost 2 months since Dr. Harrison switched Jackson's diet and put him on the supplements and he is like a whole new kid!! He eats 3 meals a day plus snacks, takes a nap and sleeps all night, and is such a happy kid. Jackson is off his GERD medication, only uses his rescue inhaler if needed and is able to fight off infections better. He was even able to do face painting without breaking out in a horrible rash!
I cannot speak highly enough of what Dr. Harrison has done for Jackson and me. Dr. Harrison cares very deeply about all of his patients and is very passionate about his field of practice. In 4 years my son and I have had nothing but bad news and heartbreak and now we finally have hope and a sense of direction and I have my happy, energetic boy back.
In early December, my husband started complaining of sore shoulders. His legs got fatigued and ached, his energy level was way below normal, his appetite lessened and he was losing weight. He was also having trouble sleeping at night and just felt really tired. One of the worst problems though was that he was constipated and only medication would help him. After a few days, he’d be constipated again.
My husband and I operate a winter commercial fishing business and this is our peak season, so having him ill was not good. Just after Christmas he went to our family doctor to get some help. The doctor ran all kinds of blood tests but everything came back showing nothing wrong. He prescribed my husband sleeping medication for nighttime and another medication for daytime to boost my husband’s mood, thinking the winter blues might be the cause of all these symptoms. My husband started taking these prescription drugs but we weren’t comfortable with the idea of taking sleeping meds and anti-depressants as there are so many side effects. This is when I contacted Dr. Harrison and asked for his input as to what the cause of my husband’s ailment might be.
Dr. Harrison asked to see the blood tests that were done, so I got these from our doctor and sent them to Dr. Harrison. In a short while, Dr. Harrison called me and he discussed what he believed to be going on with my husband. Firstly, there was some type of infection in his body and his immune system was not fighting it very well. This is I learned for the first time that a person’s gut health can have such a major impact on the health of the whole body. He thought something was going on in the gut that was throwing much of my husband’s whole body chemistry out of whack. Dr. Harrison suggested that I limit the grain based food products, sugar, and dairy products in my husband’s diet. This was a tall order as all of these we consume daily, but, wanting him to feel better was all that concerned us. And, to discontinue taking the low dose aspirin that he took each day, as even this small amount of aspirin is hard on the stomach. As well, Dr. Harrison recommended that my husband begin taking a good probiotic, a critical omega 3, 10,000 IU a day of Vitamin D3, a turmeric supplement, and resveratrol, and to buy these at a good health food store. So this began almost immediately, the diet changed and he started taking all of these supplements.
In about two weeks, the change in my husband’s health was becoming noticeable. His appetite was coming back, the constipation problem was gone, his energy returned, and he could sleep at night. I couldn’t believe the change and how quickly he was getting back to his old self. This would have been in mid-February and today he is back to his old self in early April. We got back on the lake in early March to continue our winter fishing, and in early January, I would have bet we’d not be back on the lake again. We are still limiting the grain, dairy and sugar products in our diet, and my husband is taking the supplements for a while longer. But, what a change for the better and the best part is no prescription drugs had to be used.
Thank you, Dr. Harrison.
Working with Dr. Harrison has truly changed my life. Throughout my adult life I enjoyed relative good health and many outdoor activities. Over the past 3 years I began to experience increasing muscle aches that my activity didn’t explain and stretching didn’t help. It quickly reached a point where the aches and pain interrupted my sleep and restricted my ability to maintain the activities I loved. In addition, I was plagued with continued hot flashes for more than a decade and developed arthritis in a thumb that restricted its use significantly. In the past year, I was diagnosed as pre-diabetic. I considered these as somewhat inevitable changes that come with the aging process, but also know this progression of symptoms would have continued if I had taken no action. This is not how I wanted to live my life.
Dr. Harrison has provided the education and support I need to change this trajectory. He began with a thorough assessment that included comprehensive blood work and developed a treatment plan specific to my needs. He provided a wealth of written materials, access to on-line resources and is very effective explaining how the body functions. The information was delivered in a way that was effective and easy to absorb. The process never felt overwhelming.
With each visit, I gained more information and a greater understanding of the actions I can take to attain the level of health I want. I saw significant progress in the first four months. The muscle aches are gone and I am back enjoying all the activities I love without pain or any restrictions. All other symptoms are responding just as well and I continue to see great improvements as I follow my plan. I now have the information and resources I need to continue this progress. It’s a great feeling to see such positive changes and be in charge of my health. I recommend working with Dr. Harrison for everyone who wants to improve the quality of their life.
I have been very impressed with Dr. Harrison’s ability to translate my blood test readings to what is going on in my body. He asked me to change some of my habits which took some time but he made sure that I understood why and I could see the changes in later blood test. He is very understanding about my personality which helped him to teach me how to repair my body. It is very important that you are open to the fact that your body can heal itself over time. I have (had) type 2 diabetes which I have been able to control with exercise and better eating habits. The exercise I do for a half an hour a day. Dr Harrison worked with my diet and all things that were easy to live with, to put me in a repair mode. As my body heals I can go from the repair to a maintenance diet to keep my sugar levels low.
Last fall I attended a nutrition lecture on “Brain and Gut Health”, mostly to have my daughter hear someone besides her mother talking about the subject. I have been health conscious for most of my adult life, but as you know it is a PROCESS and a JOURNEY. When Dr. Harrison explained what he was doing (truly HEALING people by empowering and educating them) ,I felt I had stumbled onto something wonderful. Having spent the last four months under his tutelage, I have brought my blood sugar from pre-diabetic to normal, vitamin D level up ,Iron that was too high is lower, and developed a balanced , comfortable health regime that I can easily continue for the rest of my life. My dream now is that my husband and children will follow suit and take control of their own health with Dr. Harrison’s mentorship. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for everything Dr. Harrison!!!
Working with Dr. Harrison was a pleasure. I think he was able to help me better than any of the many other doctors I had seen for my current thyroid condition.
The testing was more accurate in pinpointing the exact areas of my health to address, which with self-discipline, education about my condition and guidance led to a successful outcome. I learnt a lot about which foods to avoid and eliminate from my current diet to better assist in my recovery.
Considering that the medical doctors I had seen either suggested an operation or medical drugs, and that I was able to accomplish the return of my health to the right track with neither of these was a great accomplishment.
My energy has been returning to normal as I progress along this path. Considering from where I began to where I am now in only 4 months, this has been truly encouraging. I think I would have been struggling to find answers in other avenues without Dr. Harrison’s help for a much longer time, and perhaps not even ultimately finding the correct path, and I would have been struggling with poor health for a much longer period.
I am not over the hump yet, but I know I am very much on the correct road for a full healthy recovery.
I have suffered from hormonal issues since I was 16 years old, diagnosed with a prolactinoma (the pituitary tumor that produces high levels of prolactin) in 1997 I have struggled with weight gain, fatigue, and irritability, along with many digestive issues (heartburn, gas and bloating).
I lost my Mom to a terrible brain tumor just over 5 years ago and have two amazing little boys ages 7 and 6, that both suffer from Chiari Malformation, talk about stress, poor eating habits and lack of sleep. We all know life happens and it seemed like all the crappy things were happening to me one after another.
I was tired of being tired and tired of all the unwanted side effects of prescription medication. I reached out to Dr Glenn for some advice and support, and have had amazing results in 6 short weeks. Giving up dairy, grains and refined sugar seemed to be a very daunting mission at first, however with supportive supplements and measureable results it has become much easier than I ever imagined it would be. I do on occasion want to reach for something sweet but have learnt and am learning that there are much healthier alternatives and that being healthy is a choice and a lifestyle, not a fad or a diet. I am also learning that I am worth it!!!!
I am no longer on any prescription medication for my prolactinoma, nor my digestive upsets, I am slowly regaining my energy, my prolactin levels are dropping, my moods have definitely stabilized and I have lost almost 20 pounds!! Those that struggle with hormone issues know how big of an accomplishment losing any weight is, let alone 20 pounds in 6 weeks! My Endocrinologist is very happy with my results and says to keep doing what I am doing. I have gone from monthly hormone checks, to quarterly and now only have to check in twice a year.
Dr. Glenn is an amazing and talented Dr, but above and beyond that he is a caring and compassionate person that truly wants to help people be the healthiest they can be. I have only started my amazing journey to better health, but am so thankful to have Dr. Glenn and his knowledge on my side.
After seven years of multiple doctors and increasing symptoms of the classic vomiting and diarrhea, I was diagnosed with Celiac Disease in my early thirties. I changed to a gluten-free diet and managed to cruise along in life until my late forties when I became increasingly unable to maintain my lifestyle and job. I tried job sharing, taking a year off for restoration of health, just about everything before I applied for disability. I had IBS, sleep apnea, painful fibromyalgia, asthma, severe allergies, chronic fatigue and massive migraines that left me in constant pain. The worst was the brain fog. I started searching the internet for something to help my brain fog.
Almost four years ago I started a Paleo type diet due to its reputation of clearing brain fog. To my amazement, it helped eliminate my allergies, asthma, migraines and fibromyalgia pain. I was immediately convinced that I would no longer eat the Standard American Diet (SAD). I was able to think more clearly again! One of the nicest side effects is that I lost 80 pounds and my energy began to improve and I naturally became more active and involved in life and regained my relationships with friends and family. The only thing it did not help was the IBS and I was suffering from occasional incontinence. I am only in my sixties and I was not ready to wear diapers. This is when I found Dr. Harrison and his Center of Functional Medicine.
I had spent a lifetime with mainstream medicine and was able to wean off almost all of my many medications but the IBS was impossible! I searched for a functional doctor for help and tried Dr. Harrison whose office was very close to my home. We tried an AIP diet for while but the symptoms actually got worse. Dr. Harrison had the wisdom to switch me to a Ketogenic diet and within a week or two, the symptoms improved.
I’ll be honest, it took many months of hard, persistent work and searching for recipes with the sacrifice of never eating out or sharing potlucks during this time but I am beginning to slowly add back some of the foods I was previously unable to eat and the IBS has so far continued to improve. My story is not yet over and I still have a lot of hard work to do but I feel so much better leaving the house and not worrying so much about where the next bathroom may be.
Dr. Harrison also helped me with my knees. My doctors had told me I needed knee replacements in both knees but Dr. Harrison gave me some exercises to do that have prolonged function by building up the muscles around the joints. I may still need knee replacements at some time in the future but for now I am still working on my gut issues and feel comfortable postponing knee replacements until hopefully my gut is completely healed. I am very thankful to Dr. Harrison for helping me with my stomach struggles, my knees and improving the quality of my life!
Thank you, Dr. Harrison, for your help and hope to see you soon
Last year, a friend of mine invited me to hear a series of lectures by Dr. Glenn Harrison and I found the health information very interesting and helpful. For several years, I'd faced some stubborn health issues that even prescription drugs did not resolve.
After 3 months of phone counseling and reading health information from Dr. Harrison, as well as taking the supplements he obtained for me, my blood tests are remarkably improved and I expect that my M.D. will agree to discontinue 2 of my 3 medications.
I have recommended this program to several health-minded friends who have unresolved health issues despite their discipline to eat healthy meals and exercise regularly. It is so encouraging to see marked improvements in my sleep, weight loss and blood test scores!
I am very grateful to Dr. Harrison and his program and I highly recommend them!
