Quest Diagnostic’s FAQ

Foundational Lab Panels

Overview of Foundational Lab Panels

Foundational panels are a group of lab panels that look at the whole picture of your body. This is the place to start if you are looking to understand the status of your whole body.

Specialized Lab Panels

Overview of Specialized Lab Panels

Specialized lab panels are a group of lab panels that “zero in” on a specific organ system or body function and help identify the “why” of the problem. These panels are designed to follow up after having a foundational or similar panel performed.

Specific Lab Panels

Overview of Specific Lab Panels

Specific panels are a group of lab panels that look at focused systems or concerns in the body. These panels are designed to follow up on the status of a specific lab marker or group of markers.

Cyrex Lab FAQ

CFM Array 2 (Intestinal Antigenic Permeability Screen)

This test will determine if you have leaky gut (intestinal permeability). You will want to take this test before ordering large food sensitivity panels such as the Array 10. If you have leaky gut many food sensitivity panels can be artificially elevated due to food protein crossing the blood-gut barrier.

CFM Array 3X (Wheat/Gluten Proteome Reactivity & Autoimmunity)

This test will identify and determine if you have any reaction to gluten and all the “pieces” associated with gluten reactivity. This is one of the most comprehensive tests that will identify if your body is reacting unfavorably to gluten.

CFM Array 4 (Gluten-Associated Cross-Reactive Foods and Food Sensitivities)

This test will identify and determine if you are reacting to specific foods that look like gluten. If you have any symptoms or irritation to gluten and/or have positive markers on the Array 3X test,  this test is for you. Many people who have had improvement when removing gluten may also be reacting to the foods in this panel and they never reach their full health potential. I highly recommend this test for many of my clients.

CFM Array 5 (Multiple Autoimmune Reactivity Screen)

This test will identify and determine if you are reacting to your own tissues such as in the early stages of autoimmune disease. Please note that this test is not designed to determine or diagnose if there is an autoimmune disease, but it is designed to identify the early stages before the disorder progresses. I order this test for clients who either already have a diagnosis of an autoimmune disorder or have symptoms of autoimmune disease.

CFM Array 10 (Multiple Food Immune Reactivity Screen) (180 Foods Tested)

This test will identify and determine if you are reacting or having a sensitivity to not only 180 foods but also to food additives, colorings and tests both cooked and raw foods. I highly recommend not doing this test if you have significant digestive issue and have not performed a leaky gut test (Array 2) prior. Should you have leaky gut syndrome, this food sensitivity test or any other that tests immunoglobulins can be artificially elevated.

CFM Array 11 (Chemical Immune Reactivity Screen)

This test will identify and determine if you are reacting to chemicals and metals which you are exposed to, and whether they are in your environment or body. Most of us have at least some level of these toxins and metals in our bodies; the question is why do some people have symptoms from these toxins within their bodies and some do not? The answer lies in your immune system; and your symptoms are the result of the immune reacting or not reacting, to this chemical or metal. This test determines not if the toxin is in your body, but if you are reacting to the toxin since the immune reaction is what causes the symptom.

CFM Array 22 (Irritable Bowel/SIBO Screen)

This test is designed to identify if you have Small Intestinal Bacterial Overgrowth (SIBO). SIBO is a disorder where bacteria move from the lower (large intestine) to the upper (small intestine). The majority of the bacteria in the gastrointestinal tract should stay contained in the large intestine. Individuals suffering from SIBO most commonly experience gas and bloating.  These symptoms tend to be the least first thing in the morning (before eating) and slowly progress in severity throughout the day. This is one of the best tests to determine if your symptoms are the cause of SIBO.
