Obesity: The New Epidemic

More than 2 out of 3 adults and one third of American children and adolescents are considered to be overweight or obese. This equals to more than the population of NY, CA and TX combined.

If Obesity trends continue on their current trajectory, more than 44% of Americans will be obese by 2030

Children who are obese are two times more likely to die by the age of 55 than their non-obese peers.

The highest prevalence for obesity specific to race and gender, of both adults and children are non-Hispanic black women who are closely followed by non-Hispanic black men.

The direct medical cost of obesity (as of 2009) was over $152 billion.

Obesity: A Symptom of an Underlying Health Condition

The majority of overweight and obesity cases in the United States are due to physiological imbalances. This may be the result of hormonal imbalances, metabolic dysfunctions, and/or digestive disorders. To learn more about hormone imbalances and what you can do to overcome hormone dysfunction, click here to access our FREE video workshop “Stress, Hormones, and Your Health”

These imbalances will not only lead to obesity but will significantly increase the chances of developing a multitude of more severe degenerative health conditions.

I am Overweight and Have Tried Everything. There are so Many “Magical” Weight Loss Solutions Advertised and I am Frustrated. What Can I Do?

This is a common frustration which many of my clients express when I first meet them.

Individuals who are struggling with excessive weight tend to go from diet to diet or the new exercise fad in a never-ending effort to take control of their weight and take back their life.

The first step that must be taken to achieve weight loss and overcome obesity is to recognize and realize that excess weight is a symptom and should never be the specific focus to solely concentrate on.

If weight gain and obesity are identified as only an isolated condition, a resolution to the problem can never be achieved.

Functional Medicine is uniquely positioned to successfully identify and address obesity in a healthy, safe, sustainable manner. Its focus is to identify the underlying health condition(s) which are leading to weight gain and obesity. Once the true underlying causes are identified, the specific corrective measures can be implemented and success can finally be achieved.

If you suffer from being overweight or have been diagnosed with obesity and are looking for information on how to overcome this disease, take advantage of our FREE video workshop, “Stress, Hormones and Your Health” where I explain how hormone imbalances can be the missing link in efforts to losing weight.
